The Society is looking for new members to join our expert university programme accreditation review panel, which reviews all applications to the scheme.

We are particularly keen to hear from geographers who hold teaching and learning leadership positions at a senior level in higher education, or geographers working in industry who are interested in the skills and knowledge of graduates.

What’s involved

Panel members play a key role in supporting the accreditation review process, helping to assess each programme accreditation application. Applications consist of a written document of no more than 4,000 words, alongside supporting evidence such as programme and module specifications. Review periods conclude with a panel meeting to discuss and agree outcomes.

Panel members will need to be able to commit around four days per year to panel-related work (dependant on the number of applications received), split across two application deadlines. This time includes reading and commenting on applications, and attendance at online meetings.

Direct experience of university teaching and learning is not required, but we would expect panel members to be up-to-date with current practice in higher education.

Apply now

If this sounds like it could be you, please send a letter of application expressing your interest in being part of the review panel and outlining any relevant experience, along with a current CV, to accreditation@rgs.org no later than 5.00pm on Friday 5 May.

Please do share this opportunity with any colleagues who may be interested. We are committed to equal opportunities and endeavour to appoint a panel that is representative of the community.

Further information about the accreditation scheme can be found on our website. If you have any questions, or would like an informal discussion before applying, please contact Dr Ed Armston-Sheret at accreditation@rgs.org.
