Head of Public Engagement and Communications (Maternity cover)

We are seeking a full-time, temporary (maternity cover) Head of Public Engagement and Communications to be part of the Society’s Senior Management Team. We seek a colleague who has the right experience and skills at a level appropriate to the seniority of this position, an attitude that fits with the organisation’s ethos, plus a strong sense of enjoyment of geography and what it offers everyone.

The starting date for this post is mid February 2015 with a two month probationary period. It is a full time, temporary (maternity cover) post based in Kensington, London. The post is salaried at £60,000 per annum.

Audio Visual technician

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual with proven expertise in Audio Visual (AV) services and strong communications skills, to fully manage the Society’s AV equipment and service provision.

The post is a permanent, full time post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of four months. The salary range for this post is £26,000 to £28,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The post is based at the Society’s premises in Kensington, London.

Caretaker

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive caretaker for our premises. We are seeking a flexible, efficient, reliable, friendly, trustworthy and well-organised team player. As Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day to day safety and security, and building maintenance (in a listed building) and, in addition, you will provide some support for event preparation to ensure smooth running of the premises for our members, users and employees.

The post is a permanent, full time post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months. The salary for this post is £17,000 to £20,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The post offers an option of a small, self-contained flat, suitable for one person or a couple, at our premises in Kensington, London. Alternatively, for a candidate living close to, and within easy reach of, the Society, we would be prepared to consider a higher salary without accommodation.

The Society offers a work experience programme for enthusiastic geographers, who are studying geography at university and also for geography ambassadors.

All placements are unpaid and based in London at the RGS-IBG. We do not pay expenses or provide accommodation.
