Editorial Assistant: Academic Publications
The Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) wishes to appoint a part-time (0.4 FTE) Editorial Assistant: Academic Publications to provide support for the Society’s academic publications. The Society’s academic publications (www.rgs.org/journals) include the journals Area, The Geographical Journal, Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers and WIREs Climate Change, and the RGS-IBG Book Series. A new fully open access journal is soon to be launched. The Editorial Assistant is a new role to provide general support to the Managing Editor: Academic Publications at this time of expansion.
The role involves supporting the Managing Editor in administrating the timely review of manuscripts, dealing with enquiries, reporting on editorial processes and supporting the dissemination of published articles amongst other duties.

This is a 0.4 FTE permanent appointment, subject to successful completion of a three-month probationary period. The post will be salaried in the range of £21,490 - £22,415 (pro-rata £8,596 - £8,966 per annum), according to experience.

This is a two-year fixed-term position, subject to successful completion of a four-month probationary period. The post will be salaried up to c£29,000 according to experience.
