What is Twitter?

How can I see the Society's tweets?

You can view the Society's twitter profile at www.twitter.com/RGS_IBG.

If you choose to follow the Society on Twitter, you can expect to receive updates on our activities, events, and to learn more about geography.

What is Facebook?

Facebook is a free social networking site that allows people to connect with friends, organisations and brands, create events and share status updates, photos and videos. There are now over 500 million active users worldwide.

Why is the Society on Facebook?

The Society has created a Facebook page to allow users to connect with the Society through Facebook.

By becoming a "fan" or "liking" the Society's Facebook page, you can expect to receive updates on our activities and events in your newstream on Facebook.

What is Delicious?

Delicious is a social bookmarking site allows individuals to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralised resource.

How is the Society using Delicious?

The Society has created a Delicious account in order to share its bookmarks with the public.

The Society's account includes lists of online resources, maintained by staff from across the Society, as well as in a number of other areas where links are used across the Society website.

What is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a professional networking site, where professionals can be found, be introduced, and collaborate with each other. There are over 50 million professional on LinkedIn.

Networking groups for Society members & Chartered Geographers

The Society has created a group on LinkedIn to enable members and Fellows of the Society to network professionally with each other.

There is also a sub-group specifically for Chartered Geographers accredited by the Society to network with one another.

 

 Flickr

What is Flickr?

Flickr is an online community that allows individuals to share, view, and discuss photgraphs and photography-related topics. There are over 10 million users on Flickr.

How is the Society using Flickr?

The Society has created a Flickr account to showcase some of its exhibitions, and to provide an insight into its unique geographical collections.

To support its new travel and public engagement project, Hidden Journeys, the Society has created a Flickr group where users can submit their own photography to be used on the Hidden Journeys website.

 

  YouTube

What is YouTube?

YouTube is a website that allows users to upload, view and share videos through websites, mobile devices, blogs and by email. It is the largest video sharing website on the Internet.

How is the Society using YouTube?

The Society has created a YouTube account to host videos from accross its broad range of activities.
