Cross-cutting themes

During the summer of 2005 a working group was convened to produce recommendations on cross-cutting themes for realising the potential for geography in schools.

These themes included the following: ICT, sustainable development, global issues and citizenship.

The overall aim of the working group meetings is to produce a succinct set of achievable goals and recommendations on one side of A4 that were presented to the  Department for Education and Skills.

The draft recommendations were put out for consultation and were strongly that endorsed by the geography community .

The working group consisted of:

  • Jonathan Breckon (Head of Policy & Public Affairs, RGS-IBG)
  • Dr Caroline Bressey (Research Fellow, Dept of Geography, UCL)
