Geography in policymaking

Geographers in the UK contribute to evidence-based policy making through research, evaluation and advice.

Academic and professional geographers work inside Government departments, work as consultants or produce academic research that influences decision making.

The Society organises Environment & Society Forums to engage policymakers on topical issues ranging from disaster relief in developing countries to waste disposal policy in the UK.

We also have an informal policy advisory group, helping us work on new initativies to influence public policy.
