Teachers keep subject, skills and knowledge current through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Chartered Geographer (Teacher) candidates must undertake a minimum amount of CPD, so students, colleagues and parents are aware that Chartered Geographers (Teacher) offer the best possible expertise in and out of the classroom.
Once awarded the status, CGeogs are required to do at least 15 hours internal and 20 hours external CPD per year. This CPD must be logged and submitted this to RGS-IBG. Chartered Geographer (Teachers) need to collect a minimum of 35 CPD points per year. (The general rule is 1 hour = 1 CPD point.)
