While working towards Chartered Geographer (Teacher) status, you can be matched with a mentor who will offer support and guidance towards gaining the experience necessary to be awarded Chartered status.
"It has been really helpful to have someone point me in the right direction as to the best ways to gather evidence for the accreditation"
Geography teacher and future CGeog (Teacher) applicant
Why should I request a mentor?
- To benefit from the knowledge of a current Chartered Geographer to support you to gain necessary experience and knowledge to meet Chartered Geographer (Teacher) criteria
- Encourages the sharing best practice and geographical skills and knowledge
- To support the creation of CPD networks within local regions and between schools
- To open up new contacts, networks, ideas and opportunities
How do I request a mentor?
Once you have decided to apply for Chartered Geographer (Teacher) status, please contact us. You can request a mentor at any point in your teaching career, even if you have not yet reached the required 6 years of teaching to achieve Chartered status. Once a mentor has been requested you will be matched to a Chartered Geographer in your local area (if available), your contact details will be swapped, and you and the mentor will then be responsible for arranging communication.
