Chartered Geographer is for anyone wishing to demonstrate their professionalism in geography. Every Chartered Geographer has a geographical dimension to their work regardless of their initial training.
There are currently over 340 Chartered Geographers, ranging from academics, teachers, GI Scientists, conservationists, planners, surveyors, environmental and economic consultants, civil servants, military personnel and others. 11% of CGeogs are from outside the UK.
The following post nominals have also been approved for usage recognising some of the different sub disciplines within geography:
CGeog (Econ)
CGeog (Geomorph)
CGeog (GIS)
CGeog (Teacher)
The application process for all CGeog post-nominals is exactly the same but you must state from the outset which post-nominal you would like, as you will be assessed accordingly and it can not be changed after Council approval.
If you are thinking of applying for CGeog (Teacher) please see the separate pages.
We are currently working with the AGI to promote CGeog (GIS) and further details are available on their website.
