Britain from the Air provides a rich visual tool through which primary pupils and secondary level geography students can:
- Build a picture of the geography (social, cultural, economic and environmental) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the connections and contrasts between Britain’s human and natural landscapes
- Investigate the processes through which places and landscapes change over time
- Think geographically
With this in mind, the primary (Key Stage 2) and secondary (Key Stage 3) geography resources have been developed to enable students at different levels to:
- Ask geographical questions, use geographical skills, and employ geographical terms to explore the fascinating images of Britain from the Air
- Gain a deeper understanding of what it encompassed by the study of geography with reference to Britain’s rich and varied human and natural landscapes
- Develop greater locational knowledge of significant features, places and environments across the United Kingdom by using aerial photos together with maps and GIS
Both the primary and secondary resources are directly linked to key learning objectives, concepts and skills as outlined in the Key Stage 2 (KS2) and Key Stage 3 (KS3) Geography Curricula.
