Discovering Britain

Geographically-themed walks around the UK

Launched at the beginning of 2012, Discovering Britain is the Society’s latest public engagement project. It offers an opportunity to explore Britain’s many and diverse landscapes through story-led walks.

There are walks by the seaside, in the countryside and in towns and cities, on a range of geographical themes. Whether you fancy finding out about coastal processes, regeneration, conservation, rivers, land ownership, transportation, rural industries or chalk grasslands, there is a walk for you.

The walks are free to browse and download from the website, and are suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

New walks are being added to the website all the time. The aim is to have over 100 walks covering different parts of the United Kingdom. If you see a particular gap and have an idea for a suitable walk, contact discoveringbritain@rgs.org.
