A one day seminar for anyone planning expeditions and field research overseas, with a focus on self-led student projects.

Venue: University of Cumbria, Rydal Road, Ambleside, Cumbria, LA22 9BB

Chaired by: Mary-Ann Ochota, broadcaster and anthropologist.

By rail
The nearest main line railway station is at Oxenholme, about 15 miles from Ambleside. There is also a branch line station at Windermere, which is only six miles away from the campus. Both stations normally have taxis available for hire. Buses also run regularly, leaving regularly from Windermere train station, return £8. Visit www.stagecoachbus.com for the most recent timetable.  

By road
Ambleside is about 22 miles from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway. The postcode for the Sat Nav is LA22 9BB. 
Parking is available at the University of Cumbria campus. Visit the website for more information.


 There is a wide range of accommodation in Ambleside where you can make reservations.
