First Aid Training Courses
First aid training is essential for every member of an expedition team. Research has shown that first aid trained staff are more safety conscious and have fewer accidents. View a list of training providers.
Interhealth 'Coping with Psychological Issues'

Basic Canopy Access Proficiency (BCAP) Course
The Basic Canopy Access Proficiency course is a unique opportunity to learn the basics of roped access to the canopy and provides the skills necessary to carry out a range of projects in the world’s treetops. You will require a good level of fitness and an aptitude for working at height to attend these courses.
Awareness training for overseas travellers
Objective gap safety offer one day safety awareness courses every Wednesday, from July to February, in London and Edinburgh. The course is designed to allow gap year travellers or expedition members the confidence to gain maximum benefit from their travels, secure in the knowledge that they can deal with problems of security. The course teaches young people to recognize potential hazards before they can disrupt plans or develop into something more serious.
Water Safety
Far Frontiers are delivering the RLSS UK National Water Safety Management Programmes (WSMP) for school trips.
This is a practical training course looking at increasing safety awareness when managing groups by or in water and providing basic water rescue techniques. Levels one to three are available, dependent on length of course attended.

Photography
Wildscreen organises an annual two-day symposium for both professional and amateur photographers. Speakers often include Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners. For details of the event see the Wildscreen website.
Marine and aquatic
Pelagial courses provide comprehensive, professional instruction and skills development within the marine and aquatic environment. The main areas in which they train are: Marine ecology, marine wildlife photography, cetology, diving, boat handling.
Travel writing and photography
Led by the editor of Traveller Magazine, Travellers' Tales offer inspiring and practical courses with award- winning travel writer and top photographers. Courses include a one day introduction to travel writing in London and weekend creative retreats in Cornwall.
Expedition and Fieldwork safety training
Fieldskills run a range of courses including tropical forest, desert, mountain and savannah safety courses as well as courses in planning and leading expeditions. The courses are suitable if you are going overseas as a leader, teacher or to undertake fieldwork.
