Leadership and project planning
Advice on planning collaborative field research and research design, safety management and funding for fieldwork.
The ILCB will be develop partnerships in Ecuador, Indonesia and Uganda which run field research projects that will contribute to he Millennium Development Goals in the areas of sustainable development, reversing the loss of environmental resources and biodiversity and access to safe water.

Manuals on field mapping and biodiversity assessment techniques are available. Complimentary copies are available for ILCB projects on request.

Advice is also provided by the Society’s Mapping Unit, particularly in the application of low-cost Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to field research activities.
This unit’s work is complemented by a popular annual training course for students, and others, on the use of GIS which will be held in March 2008.
Health & Safety
The Society has recently been involved in developing a new standard BS 8848 for fieldwork safety management and offer a range of online support and training courses on this topic.
