Expedition Medical Cell

The Medical Cell advises the RGS-IBG on all medical matters for fieldwork in remote and challenging environments, ensuring that risks are kept to a minimum.

Chaired by Professor David Warrell of the Centre for Tropical Medicine, Oxford University and by a committee co-ordinated by Dr Sarah Anderson, the RGS-IBG Medical Cell provides a forum for discussion, information and advice to those operating in remote areas.

An expert panel provides additional expertise to support the activities of the Medical Cell.

  • Medical advice for expedition planners
  • Supporting medical professionals in expeditions and fieldwork
  • Survey of Expedition Health & Safety
