Projects Supported

The RGS-IBG grants programme supports over 70 projects annually, with researchers, students, teachers and independent travellers all pushing the boundaries of geographical knowledge in interesting and innovative ways.

Projects supported cover a range of geographical topics, from volcano monitoring, to adaptations to climate change, to farmers' rights issues. The grants programme has supported research undertaken in laboratories, archives and in the field in countries across all seven continents, from Greenland, to Indonesia, to Peru and some in the UK.

Recipients of the Society's grants range from first year undergraduate students embarking on their first geographical fieldwork project, to senior researchers, established and recognised in their field of expertise.
