· Dr David Rippin (University of Hull) and Dr Jonathan Carrivick (University of Leeds) - Dynamical responses of small, cold Arctic glaciers to climate change
Kårsaglaciären is a small, cold glacier with a shallow mass balance gradient and low ice velocity, controlling ice transit through the glacier, and the generation of meltwater. The expedition will use equipment such as ground penetrating radar to assess the dynamics of the glacier in response to climate change, addressing and predicting the understudied yet severe impacts of climate change on the Arctic and the sea levels globally.
