The Society runs four grants for early career researchers.
RGS-IBG Small Research Grants
Several awards of up to £3,000 for original desk and/or field-based research. Aimed at scholarly researchers early in their career, these awards are available to Society members and Fellows.
EPSRC Geographical Research Grants
The Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) provides a number of grants up to £3,000 annually for research related to EPSRC strategic themes priority topics (these include energy demand / use, climate change and sustainable urban environments)

Jasmin Leila Award
This award is given in celebration of Jasmin Leila Sidaway. The Award (£250) will be given as a supplement to one of the projects supported under the Society’s Small Research Grant scheme or as an independant award. Projects should focus on either; medical and health geography, performance (especially any aspects of music, theatre, fashion and/or dance) and their geographies and transnational communities.

20th International Geographical Congress Award
This fund was established following the 20th International Geographical Congress held in London in 1964. Each year one grant of up to £3,000 will be awarded. Preference will be given to projects by individuals that advance geographical research and will lead to publications.
