Teaching grants

The Society supports innovation in teaching geography at secondary and higher education level.

The Society offers several Awards for school teachers. The 'From the Field' Goldsmiths' Award offers bursaries of £500 to secondary school teachers to work alongside researchers at the cutting edge of geographical research to develop educational resources for the classroom.  The Learning & Leading Fieldwork Masterclass Weekends for teachers aim to develop the field teaching skills of participants. The Innovative Geography Teaching Grants offer two awards of £1,000 for geography teachers at secondary level to create imaginative and innovative teaching materials.

The Ray Y Gildea Jr Award is a single annual award of £1,000, to support one innovative teaching project. The deadline for this award is to be confirmed.
