Teaching grants

The Society supports innovation in teaching geography at secondary and higher education level.

The Society offers several Awards for school teachers. The 'From the Field' Goldsmiths' Award offers bursaries of £500 to secondary school teachers to work alongside practitioners at the cutting edge of geographical research to develop educational resources for the classroom.  The Learning & Leading Fieldwork Masterclass Weekends for teachers aim to develop the field teaching skills of participants. The Ray Y Gildea Jr Award is a single award of £1,000, given annually to one innovative teaching project. This award is open to secondary teachers or university lecturers in the UK and the USA.
