Learning and Leading: Field Apprenticeships

Each year between 2009 and 2016, the Learning and Leading programme awarded a number of bursaries to first year geography undergraduates to enable them to join an academic from their university on an overseas research project. To find out more about the projects these Field Apprentices were involved with, read their reports on our Meet the Participants page. To find out more about current opportunities see the Alexander Award Field Apprenticeships.

The Society also provides funding through our student grants. You can find out more about other work that RGS-IBG does with universities and academics by referring to the Research and Higher Education part of our website.

Sep. 2015 - Aug. 2016 is the 'Year of Fieldwork', a collaboration between RGS-IBG, Field Studies Council, Esri UK, the Geographical Association and Ordnance Survey. Find out more here: @yearoffieldwork
