Since 1830, we have been promoting and supporting geographical research through a wide range of activities.

 Annual Conference
Each year, we host the largest geographical conference in Europe, with more than 1,200 delegates.

 Academic books & journals
We publish three leading journals (Transactions of the IBG, The Geographical Journal and Area) and an academic book series.

 Research Groups
28 Research Groups bring together active researchers in particular areas of geography and related disciplines.

 Postgraduate Forum
Comprised of the Society's postgraduate Fellows, the 'PGF' provide support and opportunities, including an annual Mid-term Conference, and voice within the Society's governance.

 Support for postgraduates
The Society and its Research Groups offer a wide range of support and opportunities to postgraduate students, from research grants to events, and online resources for getting published and communicating research.

We offer a range of awards in recognition of outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate research.
