Geographies of Children, Youth and Families

The Geographies of Children, Youth and Families Research Group (GCYFRG) aims is to raise the profile, perceived value and understanding of geographies of children, youth and families within academic geography and beyond. More specific aims include:

  • providing a forum to explore the meanings, implications and new directions in the geographies of children, youth and families
  • stimulating and developing critical debate about geographies of children, youth and families within and beyond geography
  • building upon the activities of the former RGS-IBG Limited Life Working Party on the Geographies of Children, Youth and Families
  • establishing collaborative links to research groups and practitioners within other disciplines as well as other RGS-IBG Research Groups
  • maximising the involvement of postgraduates and new researchers in all of the Research Group’s activities
  • constituting a sustainable forum and support network that links research on the geographies of children, youth and families with the rapidly-growing number of taught courses and course modules in the field
