Geographies of Religion, Spirituality and Faith Working Group
The Geographies of Religion, Spirituality and Faith Working Group was formed in January 2010. It brings together those studying the geographies of religion, spirituality and belief.
It is a cross-cutting group which draws from different sub-disciplines within Geography including Social Geography, Cultural Geography, Urban Geography, Development Geography, Historical Geography, Environmental Geography and Cartography.
The group supports geographers in Britain and Ireland, as well as those further afield in Europe, North America and beyond.
The group’s main activities are:
- Sharing information with members about upcoming events, research opportunities and publications in the field through a website and newsletter
- Networking with other groups of geographers of religion
- Organising sessions at the RGS-IBG annual conference
- Supporting scholarship in the field through organising or sponsoring conferences and events, and a prize for postgraduate students
