The website ‘Geography Teaching Today’ has been developed as part of the Action Plan for Geography to provide a single point of web-based communication and information sharing.
It is the focal point for teachers’ engagement with the Action Plan and a signpost for them to other resources, advice and guidance, as well as an information point for wider stakeholders. The GTT website creates a feeling of ownership among the teaching community and also serves to emphasise the existence of the Action Plan. Its purposes are:
- to raise awareness of what support already exists to enhance teaching and learning in geography
- to profile and share the development of progressive and distinctive geographical study across the educational phases, supported by conceptual framework(s) for geography and framework exemplars of course structures at all levels
- to make available the outcomes of the APG to the widest possible specialist audience
- to serve as a source of information to education managers and leaders, and to the wider public, to raise awareness of what geography contributes to education
- to provide a medium for coordinating and sharing the activities of groups and networks of geography teachers.
'Geography Teaching Today' is a joint RGS-IBG and GA led project. The website was launched on October 23rd 2006. Please follow the link on the right to see the site.
