The Action Plan for Geography is for the whole geography community, and is a vital tool for sharing ideas, innovation and advice. There are a variety of ways in which you can participate:
Geography Ambassadors Scheme
We have been running the ambassadors scheme in various areas including London, the south east and the north east. If your school is located in one of these areas and you would like to invite an ambassador to enthuse your students and discuss geography in the 'real' world, please contact us. We are also recruiting ambassadors from business, higher education and the local community in each of these areas. If you are a current geography student or geography graduate and would like to become an ambassador, please let us know.
Chartered Geographer (Teacher)
If you have been a geography teacher for at least six years and can prove you go that extra mile to give your students the learning experience they deserve, why not recognise your achievements and commitment to professional development with Chartered Geographer (Teacher)? For more information and an application form follow the link on the right.
Key Stage 3 and fieldwork resources projects
We are looking for innovative teachers to contribute to our Key Stage 3 resources and fieldwork projects by writing or reviewing resources. If you have any ideas or would like to be involved in either project, please let us know.
CPD events
Look out for CPD events based around the Action Plan projects. These will be advertised on the 'Geography Teaching Today', RGS-IBG and GA websites. This is your change to be part of the Action Plan and have your say about geography in schools.
'Geography Teaching Today' website
The GTT website is the focal point for teachers' engagement with the Action Plan. Get involved by using and reviewing the resources, contributing to the forums and encouraging your colleagues to use the website.
RGS-IBG Schools Membership
By becoming an RGS-IBG Schools Member you will be supporting the work of the Action Plan and gaining access to a wide variety of opportunities to enhance the teaching and learning of geography in your school. For further information and an application form follow the link on the right.
Geographical Association projects
The GA are also running a variety of projects as part of the Action Plan, all of which compliment the projects led by the RGS-IBG. For further information follow the link on the right.
