Principles of calculation

This breakdown of the 15 questions the Environment Agency uses to calculate the overall ecological footprint of an individual gives some idea of the reason each of the questions are posed.

It is by no means exhaustive but rather provides an insight in to some of the key environmental sustainability issues underlying each question illustrating individual choices are far from inconsequential.

This section does not attempt to discuss the methodology and equations used to calculate the footprint.
