Study Geography »Key information sets

Key information sets (KIS) are sets of information about full or part time undergraduate courses which can help prospective students make choices by easily comparing courses.

From September 2012 all KIS information will be published on the Unistats website and will also be accessed via a small advert, or ‘widget’, by the end of October 2012 on the course web pages of universities and colleges.

University guides online

There are also a number of online tools that can be used to compare universities. A large amount of information is available so you should decide what factors are most important to you, and remember that numbers don't always provide the complete picture about a university. The best way to get a feel for a university and course is the go to an open day and talk to the students there.

These tools include:

  • Which? University - a comprehensive guide to every course and university in the UK, as well as advice on university life and careers, including information compiled from all the sources below and more
  • The Guardian's UK University Guide: Geography and environmental studies - information about teaching and research
  • Unistats website - detailed statistics about universities in the UK - just search for geography. Job destinations and results from the National Student Survey are all included
  • BestCourse4me.com - emphasis on graduate employment and career salaries. Compare geography (physical or human) at different universities, and find out possible careers with geography. Make selections for A Levels, degree choices and universities and click on the search summary to view the comparison
