Venues and location

The conference is held at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), at the junction of Kensington Gore and Exhibition Road in Kensington, London SW7 2AR, and at Imperial College London, further down Exhibition Road.

The Society hosts registration, the conference helpdesk, conference plenaries, publishers' exhibition, lunch and reception catering, and a small number of conference sessions.

Most conference sessions are held at Imperial College London, a short walk down Exhibition Road. Tea and coffee are served in the foyer of the Sir Alexander Fleming building and the Sherfield building at Imperial College London during the morning and afternoon breaks, but delegates should return to the Society to collect lunch.

Conference volunteers and staff run a conference helpdesk in the foyer of the Sir Alexander Fleming Building from 8.30 to 17.00 each day.

Visiting the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

The Society is located in Kensington at the junction of Exhibition Road and Kensington Gore. There is a wide range of transport options available, including local tube stations and bus stops close to the Society. Find out more about visiting the Society.

The Transport for London journey planner website can help you plan your travel to and from London airports, landmarks and post codes using a range of public transport. You may also find this map helpful in terms of planning journeys above ground: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/walking-tube-map.pdf

A floor plan for the ground and first floors of RGS-IBG will be available in the front section of the conference programme book.

Visiting Imperial College London

Imperial College London is located about halfway down Exhibition Road, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Society. For most buildings, delegates should enter the campus via Imperial College Road, which is just past the College entrance as you walk down Exhibition Road (away from the Society).

Signs will be displayed around the campus to help delegates, and College staff are located in the foyer of each building if you need any assistance. RGS-IBG conference staff run a helpdesk in the foyer of the Sir Alexander Fleming Building from 8.30 to 17.00 each day.

Delegates should allow approximately 10-15 minutes to get to and from a specific session room at Imperial College London to the Society, depending on the room.

For directions to specific rooms, please follow signs or ask at the helpdesk.  Floor plans may be available to view at conference helpdesks.

The maps above shows the location of the Society in relation to the various buildings that are used by the conference at Imperial College. All buildings are signposted from Imperial College Road and delegates are advised to enter the campus by that route. More information about finding your way around the conference venues will be added to this page shortly.
