Information for authors
While the conference organising committee assemble and finalise the programme and schedule, authors may be contacted by a member of the RGS-IBG Press Office for additional information about their conference presentations. This is to enable the Society to prepare press releases and other media activities for the conference.
Please note that not all conference authors will be contacted. If contacted, the type of information normally requested will include:
- What is the key finding that will be highlighted in your presentation?
- At what stage is your research? Have you presented it anywhere else?
- Are you working with anyone else regarding publicity (your own university press office, publisher or a PR company)?
If the Society would like to publicise your work as part of the conference media activities, and you are happy to speak to the media, the Press Office will consult you during the creation of any press releases and/or in relation to arranging interviews with media representatives.
If you are contacted directly by the media about your conference presentation, please inform the Society’s Press Office as soon as possible, so that no duplicate or conflicting activities are scheduled.
Information for media representatives
The conference receives presentations on a wide variety of subjects relevant to historical and contemporary issues. If you would like to receive copies of media releases from future conferences, please contact the Press Office to be added to their distribution list, or if you would like to discuss reporting/writing out any of the papers or events taking place at conference.
