Paper:  Art and lives: spaces and their expressivity

Author: David Crouch (University of Derby)

Website: David Crouch's website (currently offline for updating)

"My most recent work captures momentary feeling, response and expression, sometimes developed over a period of years in the inflections of contingent memory. Colour is sometimes the strongest movement, at other times becomes more elusive amongst the marks and expressive gestures of line. Painting and drawing with different materials can be a moment of becoming, signified in the tension and feeling on the edges of shapes, feelings, marks and colour. Individual spaces that I have encountered, or flirted with, through journeys into patches of creativity. I work in oil on canvas, a metre square and larger; on collages; strong use of watercolour, and in pastel, charcoal, sometimes mixed with paint."
