  18 November - deadline for Research Groups to receive the proposed sessions and to send these to the Society to be posted online

  Late January - online registration opens

  3 February - deadline for submission of papers (with abstracts) to Research Group / Independent Session organisers
 
  22 February - deadline for session and abstract submissions by Research Group / Independent session organisers to the Society
 
  23 April - deadline for submission of abstracts to open sessions (to the RGS-IBG)
 
  15 May - Research Group Guest deadline (via the Research Group Chair to the RGS- IBG)
 
  4 June - early reduced rate registration closes and deadline for participants in the programme to be registered 
 
  25 August - Opening plenary in the (evening)
 
  26-28 August 2009 - RGS-IBG Annual International Conference
