Supper arrangements

Come and enjoy a two-course candlelit supper at the Society following Monday night lectures which are open to RGS-IBG members plus one guest - a great opportunity to meet others. 

Supper is served at 8.00pm, finishes by 10.00pm, and is £30 per person (main course and dessert).

To book please contact the Events Office by midday the preceding Friday. Any cancellations must be received by 11.00am on the Thursday before the supper otherwise a full charge will apply. Supper bookings cannot be taken on the day or evening of the lecture and no-shows will be charged at the full rate.

If you wish to opt for the vegetarian main course, please indicate this when booking and please specify if you have any additional dietary requirements. Vegetarian meals will be prepared from seasonal produce on the day of the event, as such we are unable to provide details of the vegetarian option in advance, but preferences will be accommodated when possible.

Suppers are free-seating on either round tables or one long table, depending on the number dining. The speaker is invited to attend but may not always be able to do so.

To book supper at the Society please telephone the Events Office (opening hours 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday) and provide your RGS-IBG membership number and Visa/MasterCard/Maestro card payment details. Please state when booking if you have any special dietary requirements and whether you would like to opt for a fruit salad instead of the listed dessert. The booking deadline is midday on the Friday before the supper.

Main: Roasted salmon on crushed new potatoes with spinach and red pepper sauce with fresh seasonal vegetables

Dessert: Sharp lemon tart with crème fraiche

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

International migration and the future of the UK - Professor Michael Keith

Main: Dukkah spiced pork fillet with crushed parsnip, caramelised apple chutney, crispy beans and madeira jus

Dessert: Raspberry and elderflower fool with almond sable biscuits

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

Siberia: its history and its people - Professor Janet Hartley

  • Monday 23 March
  • RGS-IBG members + one guest

Main: Beef stroganoff with fresh mushrooms and cream with steamed white and wild rice and seasonal vegetables

Dessert: French style apple tart with cinnamon cream

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

NOTE: this supper will be held in the Map Room

Spirits in the sky - Andy Keen

  • Monday 30 March
  • RGS-IBG members + one guest

Main: Guinea fowl with chestnut and rosemary stuffing wrapped in streaky bacon, dauphinoise potatoes, wilted baby spinach and cassis jus

Dessert: Milk chocolate pot with polenta orange biscuit

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

For lectures which are for RGS-IBG members only, the Society has arranged a prix fixe menu at Bistro One Ninety, The Gore Hotel, 190 Queen's Gate, SW7 5EX. Bookings should be made in advance and are subject to availability. The supper consists of two courses and one glass of wine for £25, not including service charge.
