Summer 2014 supper arrangements

Come and enjoy a two-course candlelit supper at the Society following Monday night lectures which are open to RGS-IBG members plus one guest—a great opportunity to meet others.  Supper is served at 8.00pm, finishes by 10.00pm, and is £30 per person (two courses, two glasses of wine and coffee).

To book please contact the Events Office by midday the preceding Friday.

If you wish to opt for the vegetarian main course, please indicate this when booking and please specify if you have any additional dietary requirements. Vegetarian meals will be prepared from seasonal produce on the day of the event, as such we are unable to provide details of the vegetarian option in advance, but preferences will be accommodated when possible.

Any cancellations must be received by 11.00am on the Thursday before the supper otherwise a full charge will apply. Supper bookings cannot be taken on the day or evening of the lecture and no-shows will be charged at the full rate.

Suppers are free-seating on either round tables or one long table, depending on the number dining. The speaker is invited to attend but may not always be able to do so.

To book supper at the Society please contact the Events Office by telephone (opening hours 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday) providing your RGS-IBG membership number, card payment details, and any specific dietary requirements that you may have by the booking deadline of midday on the preceding Friday.

Main: Roast chicken on a Portobello mushroom fricassee, wilted spinach and Boulangère potatoes

Dessert: Warm plum tart with honey and ginger Anglaise

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

  • RGS-IBG members + one guest

Main: Roast pork with chorizo and rosemary vinaigrette, dauphinoise potatoes and savoy cabbage

Dessert: Classic citrus tart with berry coulis and crème fraîche

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

  • Monday 12 May
  • RGS-IBG members + one guest 

Main: Braised beef and mushrooms with gnocchi, crushed peas and parsley

Dessert: Puff pastry apple tart with toffee sauce

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

  • Monday 19 May
  • RGS-IBG members + one guest

Main: Pan-roasted salmon with sour cream and chive mash, broad beans, and roast tomato, thyme and butter sauce

Dessert: Raspberry and elderflower fool with almond sable biscuits

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

Gentle giants of the Galapagos, by Jonathan Green

  • Monday 2 June
  • RGS-IBG members + one guest

Main: Moroccan lamb tagine with apricots, dates and fresh mint with lemon couscous and seasonal veg

Dessert: Belgian chocolate tart with raspberry coulis

Followed by tea, coffee and chocolates

NOTE: this supper will be held in the Map Room.

For lectures which are for RGS-IBG members only, the Society has arranged a prix fixe menu at Bistro One Ninety, The Gore Hotel, 190 Queen's Gate, SW7 5EX. Bookings should be made in advance and are subject to availability. The supper consists of two courses and two glasses of wine for £25, not including service charge.
