A large range of lectures, debates and field trips take place outside London to help widen interest, knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live.  These activities are part of the regional programme and contribute to the Society’s important national role.

There are 8 regions in England and Wales which are managed by groups of local volunteers. A branch in Hong Kong also organises a lively programme. The regional branches exist to serve RGS-IBG Members who do not live within easy travelling distance of London. Most events are open to both RGS-IBG Members and the general public. All RGS-IBG Members are invited to attend any UK event, you do not just have to live locally to attend.
