The Society holds events in eight regions around England and Wales, plus (new in 2010) Northern Ireland. Local volunteer committees organise events including lectures, exhibitions and field visits.
Most events are open to both RGS-IBG members and the general public. RGS-IBG members may attend any UK event, not just those in their local area.

The Hong Kong branch hold several events throughout the year, including lectures by well known speakers. Lectures are held in central locations on Hong Kong Island.
