BBC presenter Paul Rose talks about a lifetime of remarkable adventures from Antarctica to Everest via the planet’s last true remaining wilderness – her vast oceans.

The open flank of wilderness – the geography of Special Forces’operations

Paul Flint and Robin Ashcroft

In 2010 two RGS-IBG Fellows followed the route of the Cockleshell Heroes raid on shipping in Bordeaux. They describe Operation Frankton and draw on their experiences as Royal Navy and Army Officers to explore the influence of geography and explorers upon the formation of Britain’s Special Forces during WWII.

Somalia – A photographer’s eye

As a ‘Failed State’ and host to an established Piracy Industry, Somalia represents both real dangers and great challenges for the international community. Kate Holt is a critically acclaimed photographer who knows and portrays this dangerous country well.

Images from a warming planet

Ashley Cooper

Lakes-based photographer, Ashley Cooper has spent the last 10 years recording the impact of climate change across the globe from the remote Arctic to the South Pacific - and closer to home in Cumbria.
