Atlantic Rising
A talk by Tim Bromfield, Will Lorimer and Lynn Morris Recipients of the RGS-IBG and Land Rover 'Go Beyond' Bursary
Friday 18 November 2011 at Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), London SW7 2AR: 6.30pm to 8pm.
A 28,000 mile adventure to discover how climate change is affecting communities around the edge of the Atlantic.
In September 2009 the three person Atlantic Rising expedition left the UK. The mission was to travel around the Atlantic following the one metre contour line – the level scientists say the sea could reach by 2100. The team traced what could be the new coastline of the ocean through 21 countries. They drove through Europe and West Africa, took a containership to Brazil and continued up the coastline of the Americas to Boston, USA.
Tim, Will and Lynn met 10 years ago while students at Cambridge University. They combined forces to create Atlantic Rising, which won the RGS-IBG and Land Rover Go Beyond Bursary in 2009. These days, Tim is working for the African Governance Initiative in Sierra Leone. Will works for a documentary film company in Wales and Lynn is a freelance journalist of no fixed abode.
