Geo Editors outline vision for future
Geo: Geography and Environment, one of the Society’s four academic journals, has published a new editorial: ‘Geography and environment: A time of change’.
The editorial, by Drs Karen Bickerstaff (University of Exeter), Christopher Darvill (University of Manchester), Laurie Parsons (Royal Holloway, University of London) and Le Yu (Tsinghua University), sets out the editorial team’s vision for the future of the journal. Founded in 2014, Geo has a history of engaging in a cross-disciplinary way with topics related to the key issues of climate change, the environment and sustainability.
The current editors are seeking to build on this by ensuring Geo becomes a platform for rigorous and transparent research on these topics, with a focus on open science and research practices. They aim to publish high-quality research that is accessible to a wide audience and that fully represents the diversity of scholarship across geography and its related disciplines. Their hope is that through this agenda, Geo can become a go-to place for research on climate, environment and sustainability, for both academics and professionals working in this space.
As emphasised in the editorial, Geo is actively seeking papers, commentaries and open collections that engage directly with core themes in climate, environment and sustainability.
