The Society submitted evidence to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee's inquiry examining the census and social science.

The Government in 2011 proposed to end and replace the decennial Census with an alternative data collection method. The Inquiry sought to assess the impact of ending the Census on social science research.

Our evidence submission outlines how geographers use census data, and emphasises that ending the Census would undermine social science research and government decision-making.
