Loaned painting from the Collections
An 1825 portrait of traveller and author James Silk Buckingham with wife by Henry William Pickersgill is on loan to an exhibition ‘The lure of the East: British Orientalist painting’.
The exhibition is at Tate Britain until 31 August 2008, having been at the Yale Center for British Art, and moving to Istanbul's Pera Museum, and the Sharjah Art Museum, UAE. The exhibition explores British artists' responses to the near and Middle East between 1780 and 1930.
