Friday 10 November

10.00am to 6.30pm - Foyle Reading Room

Open for map enquiries and to consult past expedition reports

6.30pm - Pre-Explore Peter Smith Memorial lecture
Tickets: Free to Explore delegates. Others £5 donation on the door.
No advance booking required.

Saturday 11 November: Expedition planning and logistics

10.00am to 3.30pm Main lectures

Lectures topics and advice desks covering:

  • Putting purpose into your expedition       
  • Project planning and organisation
  • Reports from returning expeditions
  • Budgeting and fundraising
  • Health and Safety in the field
  • Eating well in the outdoors

3.30pm to 5.00pm Logistics workshops

  • Mountaineering and trekking expeditions
  • Polar & Arctic environments
  • Tropical forest expeditions
  • Desert and savannah
  • Oceans: marine and underwater projects 
  • River journeys and other adventure projects 
  • Cycling expeditions
  • Vehicle dependent expeditions

One-to-one advice sessions will also take place during the breaks.

5.30pm Presentations of research posters from returned expeditions.

6.00pm to 9.00pm Explorers' bar

This is a great opportunity to make contacts, share experiences, and chat with speakers and delegates.
