Jaguar Land Rover is a leading provider of high performance, luxury vehicles throughout the world. They are the Society’s longest-serving Corporate Benefactor.
For more than 35 years Jaguar Land Rover has been supporting the Society's fieldwork and expedition activities, from providing vehicles and expertise, to funding outreach and training. The most recent element of the partnership is the Land Rover Bursary. This is awarded every year to an enthusiastic team who undertake a journey for which a Land Rover is integral, to promote a wider understanding and enjoyment of geography and to take the recipients beyond their normal limits and boundaries.
In addition to the Bursary, Land Rover’s partnership supports Geography Outdoors: the centre supporting field research, exploration and outdoor learning. Land Rover provides financial support and the loan of a Land Rover Discovery for the Society outreach activities including visits to field centres, universities and secondary schools; supporting the Society’s work to put well-planned, safely run, quality fieldwork that benefits students’ learning and personal development at the centre of geographical education.
In working with the Society, Land Rover continues to provide four-wheel drive leadership, encouraging the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of environments and societies in a safe and responsible way.
As one of Land Rover’s Humanitarian and Conservation Partners, the Society is proud to be part of the company’s efforts to create positive change in our world.
Land Rover Bursary
Together the two organisations offer an annual Land Rover Bursary. The Bursary provides the loan of a vehicle and a grant of of up to £30,000 to fund a team to undertake a journey with geographical purpose. The loan vehicle must be essential to the journey, and the winning team will be expected to share their experiences by documenting the journey in an accessible way.
