The Main Hall is part of the original family home and had been used by the Lowther family as a reception area and ballroom.
The Main Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 150 guests.
It can also be used for dining for up to 100 guests, or if dining is held in the Education Centre it is frequently used for dancing.
For a sit down meal of 100 guests or more we recommend using both the Hall and the adjoining Education Centre.
The Main Hall is used for as a catering space for large and small conferences.
For smaller conferences (up to 80 people) in the Education Centre it makes an ideal catering area as it adjoins that room through two large doorways.
For conferences based in the Ondaatje Theatre with more than 150 delegates, the Main Hall is used in addition to the Map Room and Education Centre, if required.
Capacity: up to 150 guests
Ideal as a drinks reception or catering area if paired with the Education Centre.

Originally Lady Wesleydale's bedroom, and later part of the Society's library, the Lowther Room is ideal for small quiet meetings.
The Ondaatje Theatre is an ideal venue for a wide range of conferences, lectures and launches.
The Drayson Room is ideal for small meetings and is often hired with the Sunley Room to provide a separate break out or catering area.
The Map Room is part of the Society's neo-classical extension, which was commissioned in 1930. Its proportions mirror those of the original Lowther Lodge, built in the 1870s.
