We're seeking an enthusiastic and efficient Administrative Assistant to support our rapidly developing work with professional geographers.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career who has an interest in contemporary geography and its applications in professional and policy contexts, and is well organised with excellent attention to detail.
This appointment is very timely. Expanding the Society’s role as a professional body is a significant element of our current (2017-22) strategy. By 2021 we aim to be offering a significantly enhanced programme of professional support and accreditation for practising geographers, with a strong regional and online presence. Integral to this will be a series of initiatives to foster knowledge exchange between practitioner, academic, business and policy communities, seeking to ensure that sound geographical knowledge and perspectives inform policy.
The role is largely a process-driven, administrative one, supporting a rapidly developing area of our work. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Professional and Research and Higher Education team to ensure the smooth running and successful delivery of events; to ensure digital content and information on key contacts is accurate and up to date and disseminated widely; and to provide administrative support for new initiatives. Training will be provided where necessary and effective team working is essential.
