Safety management practices and procedures evolve over time. This course gives EVCs at all schools the opportunity to look into current material in more depth and share good practice with other EVCs.
The issues faced by School EVCs change over time and although EVC training does not formally lapse it is good practice for EVCs to ‘revalidate’ their award by attending update training. Many organisations include a three year requirement for EVC revalidation. This course will address current issues including:
-
Safeguarding
-
Trips in a climate of heightened security
-
Appropriate risk management procedures
-
Homestays
-
Quality Badges
-
Training and monitoring of staff
-
Online approval systems
A valuable aspect of the day is the opportunity to share good practice with EVCs from similar Schools. The number of places on the course is capped at 16 to allow discussion. Feedback from previous courses has been excellent.
Standard £190, RGS-IBG Members £171.
No refunds on bookings cancelled less than four weeks before the course.
Further information
Procedures for safeguarding pupils on educational visits are constantly evolving. It is recommended that trained Educational Visits Coordinators revalidate their knowledge and skills by attending an EVC update course approximately every three years. Each course will bring trained EVCs up-to-date with current health and safety issues relevant to school visits and give them an opportunity to network with experienced EVCs from other schools to share best practice around both policies and implementation of visits both in the UK and abroad.
This course is run in conjunction with the Independent Schools Adventure Activities Association (ISAAA) and is primarily for independent foundation schools and academies as many local authorities have provision for EVC training for their schools. However, if this is not the case for your school, you are most welcome to attend this course.
