In 2016, desperate for a drastic change, Bex Band decided to walk 1000km the length of Israel. The Israel National Trail stretches from Dan Kibbutz in the North to Eilat in the far South. The trail crosses over mountains in the North, passes Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and includes a dangerous crossing of the vast Negev desert. Carrying all her own camping gear, Bex hiked self-supported (except for pre-determined ‘water drops’ in the desert) on this little known trail.
She'd never done anything like it before and the experience changed her life, building back her confidence and self-esteem. Three Stripes South tells the story of this transformative adventure - battling heat, exhaustion, self-doubt and prejudice - and the new life Bex built for herself when she got home, founding the Love Her Wild women's adventure community.
Bex has since built a life for herself advocating the outdoors through writing, speaking, leading expeditions and running Love Her Wild, now an award-winning social enterprise with over 30,000 members. Nominated for multiple awards for her work advocating women in adventure, her story is an inspiration.
This event has been organised by the Cheshire and North Wales committee.
