From a treasure-filled Bronze Age craft and a Viking warship made for King Cnut, from Henry VIII’s flagship, Mary Rose, to a steamship lost during World War II, renowned maritime archaeologist, David Gibbins, reveals the riches beneath the waves.
He tells the story of the ships and the people who sailed in them, the cargo and treasure they carried, and their tragic fate. He also shows how they can provide a new narrative of the world and its spread of people, religion and ideas, a story of colonialism and migration that continues today.
