Join the East of England committee for a social evening focused on the themes of geography and the creative arts.

The event will begin at 6.30pm in the Modern Life Café at the Sainsbury Centre. From 7.00pm there will be a presentation from Eugene Rae, Principal Librarian at the Society, followed by four of the Sainsbury Centre tour experts.  Eugene has chosen five objects from the Society’s collection, and the Sainsbury Centre experts will tell the story of a similar number of diverse objects from their collection, chosen with the theme of geographical journeys and each with its own fascinating story of human creativity and resourcefulness.

After the presentations there will be time to eat and meet others. There will be a cash bar open too. The ticket price includes a welcome drink and an evening meal (vegetarian/vegan options available on request). Please email any dietary requirements to events@rgs.org in advance.

The final session will be six Sainsbury Centre experts  leading mini ‘Spotlight’ tours around the gallery each with a geographical region as its theme – the Artic, Oceana, Sub-Saharan Africa, Japan, pre-Columbian America etc. The event will finish at 9.30pm.
