Expedition medicine offers an exciting opportunity to combine your medical skills with travel, field research and exploration. This gathering is intended to share experiences and encourage best practice. This year topics will include hypothermia and avalanche rescue, restorative health and research reports on nutrition and physiology in extreme environments.

Formal presentations will be followed by a Q&A and discussions with other attendees (2.00pm-6.00pm), followed by a pay bar (until 8.00pm).

The workshop is hosted by members of the Society's Expedition Medicine Advisory Group. As a collective of experienced expedition medical professionals who have travelled far and wide, they are looking forward to sharing their experiences, so that participants can be better prepared when staring out as expedition medics.

The event will also celebrate the publication of the third edition of the acclaimed Oxford Handbook of Expedition and Wilderness Medicine (OUP, 2023).
