The evening will be filled with stories of discovery and connection, with speakers sharing their love for these incredible ocean creatures.

We’re pleased to announce that Steve Backshall, Simon Rogerson, Kirsty Andrews and Ali Hood* will all be speaking at this years’ For Love of Sharks 2024. The evening will be filled with stories of discovery and connection, sharing their love for this fascinating family of marine animals.

All profits from the event will support the Shark Trust’s conservation work.

Speakers include:

  • Steve Backshall: BAFTA award-winning wildlife expert.
  • Simon Rogerson: photojournalist specialising in natural history, diving and the sea.
  • Ali Hood: Director of Conservation for the Shark Trust.
  • Kirsty Andrew: underwater photographer.

Doors open at 6.00pm. The bar is available in the Map Room, and there will be an opportunity to view the oceanic 31 artwork in our pavilion.

The event will start promptly at 7.00pm and will wrap up at 10:00pm.

There will be the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for several oceanic 31 art pieces. As well as the opportunity to bid for art pieces via an online auction.

Please note that whilst children are welcome (and would be very much encouraged to join), there may be some adult themes discussed during the presentation.

    Oceanic 31

    Oceanic 31 brings together artists from a variety of backgrounds who are passionate about wildlife, conservation, and using art as a tool for positive change. These incredible and talented artists have kindly donated one of original pieces each focusing on one of the 31 species of Oceanic Sharks. The exhibition is intended to not only be an awareness raising tool but to also raise vital funds for the Shark Trust via auction.

    Northwest Passage and the quest for the North Pole

    Join the Society’s Principal Librarian for a glass of wine, talk and display of original artefacts, mapping, and archival documents related to the European search for the Northwest Passage and the quest for the North Pole.
