From January 2021, all Fellows will automatically be able to access our full range of scholarly journals online. Our academic journals – including The Geographical Journal, Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Area, Geo: Geography and Environment, and WIREs Climate Change – are world-class sources of the latest geographical knowledge.
If you’re interested in what our journals have to offer, then our Geography Directions blog is a great place to start. Here, you can get can overview of some of the latest findings published in our journals, in an accessible and entertaining format.
As a part of the Society’s move to online publications, we will no longer be offering new print subscriptions for our academic journals. If you have an existing print subscription, you will continue to receive the print editions, but we do encourage you to make the switch to purely online journals. Please email the Membership Team if you wish to switch to digital access.
Also from January, the Society’s popular magazine, Geographical, will be available as a print and digital ‘bundle’ for all Ordinary Members and for all Fellows who subscribe to the magazine. Young Geographers will continue to receive just the digital edition as part of their membership. The digital edition of Geographical allows you to read it on the day of publication, wherever you are, as well as giving you access to the archive of issues back to the 1930s.
If you’d rather just receive the digital edition of Geographical, simply let the Membership Team know by emailing membership@rgs.org, however the price you pay will remain the same whether you opt for digital only, print and digital, or print only.
If you have any questions about your academic journal or popular magazine options, please contact the Membership Team on membership@rgs.org.
