Changing Spaces, Making Places

Having a Story Map as a resource to dip in and out of during the module, or to come back to as revision

  • Ideas from teachers

I made this story map for Changing Places because I found that students had trouble at the beginning and end of this module seeing the bigger picture and how concepts of place, space, identity, representation and inequality are imagined, contested, intertwined and continually changing. I teach over video conference in a framework of student directed learning so was looking for a resource that was engaging and could be used throughout the module and as revision by the students at their own pace, giving plenty of opportunity for them to take it further. I found it straightforward and quick to make - the students have also really engaged with making their own to tell their own stories about place and challenge their own understandings.
